For Referrers
As a health care professional you may consider referring your patient(s) to our psychology practice if they are displaying mild to moderate psychological complaints. Examples of this may include anxiety, mood disorders, or mild forms of trauma (single-event trauma), to name a few.
The LtB Psychology Practice offers short-term treatments aimed at reducing the complaints and strengthening the patient’s own power and skills. The treatment can consist of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, EMDR, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, or even a combination of different therapies.
We specialise in treating patients with autism (ASD) as well as expats (it is also possible to offer treatment in English). In particular, elements from the Acceptance and Commitment Therapy seem to make a positive contribution to the lives of people with ASD. They are able to find more peace of mind and get to know themselves better, as well as developing more self acceptance and/or learning to deal with overstimulation and tensions differently.
Autism Referral Help - Screening for ASD
Screening for autism can be a valuable tool to obtain a better understanding of a situation. This can be beneficial, for example, when there are doubts about the presence of autism in an individual and there may be a need for a referral for an Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) assessment.
With extensive knowledge and experience of autism LtB Psychology Practice can contribute to the collection of (additional) information in a case and can advice on further steps that can be taken based on the results of the assessment.
Screening for autism is only the first step in assessing the need for further evaluation and a referral. A formal diagnosis of autism can only be made after an extensive psychodiagnostic examination.
Exclusion Criteria
If your patient’s complaints are more serious or if there are complex problems, personality problems, or long-term treatment is needed, then a referral to a specialised healthcare provider is probably more suited to your patient. If in doubt, please contact us for a consultation.
If your patient is suicidal, then a referral to a speciality healthcare provider who is experienced in treating suicidality is necessary.
